I meant to post some of these a while back, and I’m just getting back to it. I took these photos with a Canon Canonet QL17 camera (fixed 40mm f/1.7 lens and manual focus) on terribly expired Kodak Tri-X film…which really starts to lose its contrast.

In any case, the photos look “old fashioned” and are quite–for the lack of a better word–“romantic”. If you like the look of old b&w film, I think you’ll enjoy these…:-).

(OK, maybe the dead animals aren’t all that romantic…:p)

We were visiting my wife’s sister for Thanksgiving back in 2011 and I went for a really long walk along Lake Ontario (the lake is less than a mile from her house) with my Canonet QL17 loaded with expired Kodak Tri-X B&W film. The battery wasn’t working, so I was guessing at exposures.

This particular frame seems to have been out-of-focus, and the scan itself has blurry and less blurry areas (this was scanned by the business that developed the film for me). On top of that, the contrast was low because the film was expired!

In any case, it ended up being a very moody and impressionistic image, and I thought I’d share it here. I may do a blog post a bit later including some of the other photos I got that day/afternoon…:).

After a lot of discussions over email and Facebook, I was finally able to arrange a photo shoot with Liz and Danielle.

We were working with a couple of scenario “concepts” that I’ll be explaining in a little more detail shortly. Also, I’ll be providing many more photos from the shoot.

In the meantime, here are a few photos from the photo session to get things started…:-).
